‘Glass inspirations’ by Daniela Gilardoni

The Business Center Executive Service hosts the contemporary artist’s exhibition. A journey among different techniques and experimentations with glass

Le Suggestioni del Vetro’ (Glass inspirations) is Daniela Gilardoni’s exhibition presented in the Spaces of Executive Service in Milan, a collection of works that tells the story that has led the contemporary artist to discover a material that is as versatile as it is fascinating.

The exhibition is a journey among the early works, a glorification of technique and experimentation, and the most mature creations, amongst which jewels also stand out, where glass reveals itself to be sculpture again.

In the spaces of the Milan business center reserved for the exhibition, the artist indeed presents an itinerary intended also to be a personal story witnessing the artistic changes that she has gone through, resulting from continual research aimed at investigating the many expressive properties of this material. Her works created to celebrate contemporary society linking technology and emphasis of the image, including ‘emocion’ are also exhibited; the coloured glass items with most eccentric shapes, on the other hand, are the result of the meeting of the versatility of the material and the manual skill of the artist. There are many works in which light and glass blend to give rise to expressions with a strong emotional value.

The exhibition, also thanks to the trusted network of artisans who the artist works with, presents the variety of Italian and contemporary excellence in glass production. Indeed, the event also provides an important opportunity to discover an artistic production that is the result of skillful craftsmanship, bearing witness to the artistic and cultural ferment underlying the glassmaking art today, especially in Italy.

It was in 1979 that Daniela Gilardoni fell in love with glass and fascinated by the material started her research and experimentation. In time, studying brought her closer to the pure art and from Milan she went to Pavia where she experimented all the techniques of glass assembly and fusion. In 2014 and 2015 she was on the Directive Committee of “La casa delle artiste” in Milan. In 2008, her studio, “Bottega d’arte in Pavia”, represented the City in the “Le salon des artes du feu” in Morez France. Since 2014 she has been a member of the critical jury of the CAM (Catalogo d’Arte Moderna) and was “Maestro d’arte” of the events scientific committee at Expo 2015. The artist is a permanent member of the “Studio e laboratorio d’arte Transvisionismo” of Castell’Arquato (PC) and collaborates with the gallery “Labirynt No 2” of Krakow, “Fabbrica Pensante” of Moreno Panozzo, “Giochi d’Arte” Arma di Taggia (IM), Artepassante. What they say about her

“An unpredictable universe, glass artist and expert of fire with which she manages to exploit the many potentials of “stone made by man”. The works forged by Daniela Gilardoni are the result of a careful and informed technical and creative investigation that in “reflecting” the versatile temperament of the author, also lets us guess an intimate tension to actuate a high quality and aesthetically stimulating artistic project”. (Rosina Tallarico)

“The colour yield comes from different ways of emphasising colour: from knowingly dosing the “transparencies” in the works crossed by the light and by the difficult management of the “reflections” in the wall installations”. (Ketti Bocchi)

“The artist translates her own artistic visions into glass. We are led to believe that its is a really difficult job to cover a wide range of ideas and of subjects by being able to use such a fascinating yet difficult material as glass, which the contemporary artist using it has to compete with a glorious tradition going back thousands of years. Daniela, supported by her own artistic spirit does not seem to care and with an extraordinary ability makes works with extremely different characteristics: domestic settings, journeys through geological eras, historical memories or tragic evocations”. (Prof. Aldo Maria Pero)

“Markedly material painting renders the size of the universe with surprising essentialism. The pointed cuts of the glass do not invade the look, indeed they sharpen it in a peaceful and pleasant environment thanks to this capable creating artist”. (Gran Canaria Art Gallery)
